I was born in Warner Robins, but I was raised in Montezuma, GA. I went to Macon County schools all my life, which was a good thing besides going from school to school like some people have to. Since, I grew up in the country I am pretty much a country girl. Several people pick on the way I talk because they say I am so country.

My parents have been married ever since they had me. But unfortunately I have four brothers and only one of them has the same dad as me. When I was growing up my parents did not get along as much as they do now. I use to see my parents argue and fight when I was little and it was not cool. Although I have four brothers I am the baby. My dad has spoiled me rotten. If I need something all I have to do is call him and he will give it to me. My brothers does not like that idea. When I turned sixteen and I told my dad that I wanted a car, we went to get one. I had an accident in that car and my parents had moved to Florida. So, a couple of weeks later my dad bought me another honda, but during my senior year I wanted a two door honda instead of a four door. I am still currently driving that two door honda accord.

I graduated from Macon County High school in May of 2006 thats when I moved to Warner Robins. I am currently working at walmart. While I was in high school I was on a youth apprenticeship program that allowed me to work at Flint River community hospital. I enjoyed working there with the patients it all but I did not enjoy cleaning someone up and not get paid. So, when the next semester came around I went to work at cvs pharmacy. But after I graduated I no longer worked at cvs.I currently have my own apartment and I live life to the fullest.

I am a very friendly person although I am sometimes shy. I am a easy person to get along with and all, but there are some people that are just haters and always want to start a conflict with you. I am not a person who likes to fight and start arguments. I like hanging out with my friends. While I was in high it used to be like seven or so friends and we would stay at my grandfathers house and party all the time. But now since graduation most of us have gone our separate ways and we don't keep in touch like we use to. There is one that I keep in touch with which is my best friend Mallory. I could not ask for a better friend than Mallory. We have been friends since like seventh grade. Now, Mallory is having a baby on June 30th, 2007. I am going to be the god mother of her baby boy. I pretty much take care of Mal when I can. We are always there for each other which is a good thing.

I am pursing a degree in nursing and I anticipate on graduating in 2010 and be an registered nurse. I am so glad that chose the degree of nursing because there is always going to be a job in that field and the pay is great. It takes a long time to complete nursing, but once you have graduated it will pay off. I am so ready to graduate, but I hope everything goes well. I want to work in the labor and delivery part of the Macon Medical Center of Central Georgia. But while I was in high school I went to a class to receive my certified nursing assistant license, but I really don’t like that. I rather work with the babies. I hope that when I finish school I will get a job right away with a good amount of pay. I currently have several cousins that are nurses and they love it. They try to help me out and tell me what I need to do. Well that is pretty much it about me. I am just a nice, intelligent, hardworking, and friendly country girl.

A Lover and A Murderer

Topic:http://litmuse.net/prompt_guilty

I believe Roswell Gilbert really loved his wife dearly. His wife was suffering and she did not want to be live and suffer so she wanted her husband to kill her. It is hard to have to live with a disease like she had, but there are other actions that he could have taken other than taking the life of her away. Although, he killed his wife does not mean he did not love her and want her to be with him. Now it is time for him to take action to the crime he convicted. Insstead of taking matters into his own hands there was something else he should've done.

Roswell was faced with several problems by giving his wife the wishes that she wanted. When he was taken to court to face the actions with killing his wife. But Roswell should went and talked to the doctor to see what they could have done instead of taking the life of her away although she had a disease that was very aggravating and irritating sometimes not know where she was or who someone was that she was seeing. It is very irritating to be confused about someone you know and can't think of their name.

I think the actions that Roswell received by getting life in prison was exactly what he deserved. If I was married and my husband got a disease or any type of matter and he was not in his state of mine I would not kill him just because he wanted me to end his misery and pain. I know that there are other options besides killing someone. There are several types of pain medications and other types of medicines to treat someone where they will not have to die. I know from being sick and in pain alot that most of the medication they have today will take the pain away from you so therefore you won't have to kill someone.

I bet that Roswell regrets killing his wife however he killed her and that he would have seeked other treatment. He does not want to finish living his wife in prison I know, but since he took the matters and thought that is what he should do he has to pay the price. Consequences are not always the best outcome, but maybe he will realize that he should never take someones life just becasue they don't want to be alive anymore. He deserves everything that he has gotten.

A Great Deal of Evil

Topic: America as Empire?
Norman Mailer uses the words like evil in his text a few times. Evil is in our everyday life throughout the world. My definition of evil is when someone is going to do something bad and then they actually do it, but they know they are doing wrong. Norman Mailer discussed that the words that Bush uses are evil. He never stated that he was evil, but that his words are. I completely don't understand why someone in America or wherever they may be want to be evil or cruel to someone. When I work in the public I notice the different types of people right here in Central Georgia. In Central Georgia, whether you know it or not there are several evil people here. I run into these types of people several times in Wal-Mart. Each individual has a different definition of evil. Like Mailer’s definition of evil is to have a good idea of the irreparable damage you are going to do and then proceed to do it. In Mailer’s text it stated that Bush uses evil as a narcotic for that part of the American public, which feels most distressed. Bush believes that this country is the only hope of the world.

Evil occurs in my daily routine, whether I am at home, school, or work. When people are cruel toward me and rude I notice how it affects and hurts me, which shows me not to be that way. Don’t get me wrong everyone is not evil, but there are a good many that are. I can understand if they don’t feel good and be upset, but that doesn’t give them the right to be that way every time they see you. I have a situation in my daily life right now that includes this type of behavior. I have someone at my job that does not like me and she tries to pick everything out that I do wrong and doesn’t speak to me unless she has something to say that I am doing wrong and it is not right for her to do that. That is just the evil she has in her, but I speak to her and everything, but sometimes she don’t speak back. Sometimes you have to ignore some people and continue with your day. Mailer uses Bush’s words for an example of what evil is to him.

There is a great deal of evil in Central Georgia, but one who does evil has no idea on how much it may affect another person. For example, Bush when he uses the words that he does maybe he thinks that it will not affect anyone so that is why he uses them. Evil is pretty much an opinion. Evil could be classified into so many different categories. I enjoyed Mailer’s point of view of what evil is to him and I believe that he used a great example in his text.

A War Without Meaning

Topic: Why are We at War?

Norman Mailer argued great points about why we are at war. He pointed out that Bush is against evil. Since Mailer believed that he is against evil and when the attack happened on September 11, 2002, then he believed they we should go attack the foreign countries. For example, we are attacking Iraq right now. We have been attacking Iraq for about three years. I don't believe that president Bush knew how to react to this situation, but to go to war. He doesn't realize how many Americans we have lost just because he went to war. Mailer made it clear that President Bush does not know how to think on his own. We lost a lot of Americans in the world trade center, so why go to war and lose triple that many Americans? September the eleventh changed many Americans lives. Some people of the 9/11 attack makes them threatened about the country they live in. No one should be threatened to live where they live. Mailer made some good points about our president, but on this particular book the reader has to pay close attention to the story or you will lose your thoughts. Bush thought most Americans would want him to go to war, but I bet if he did a survey it would be the opposite. I believe this war has no meaning and that it is useless.

I bet the soldiers that are fighting in this war does not know what they are fighting for now. This war is useless. Bush is constantly sending Americans to Iraq to fight in this war and it is no need for someone to go over there and lose their life for no reason. We are losing too many Americans. Today, Americans think that money is everything. We are fighting Iraq and destroying their city, but then we are rebuilding everything back, I don’t understand that part. There is no sense in rebuilding it if we are destroying it. As Mailer says, they don’t care about the many lives that were lost in the attack on 9/11. They should’ve given more respect to the people who lost their family members during this tragedy. I know a lot of things in this world cost a good bit of money, but that doesn’t mean you have to be rich. Mailer believes this war was based more on capitalism than anything else.

Later when this goes in history books, we will look back at this war and wonder why our Americans fought in this war and have no meaning behind it. Bush always wants our American people to send clothes, food, and needy accessories over to Iraq to help them, but Bush doesn’t realize that we have poor families and children over here in America that needs our help just as bad as they do. We wouldn’t have to send these necessary items over to Iraq if he didn’t start this war to begin with. So, why are we at War? I don’t understand why we are at war, because this war is not solving anything. This is war is losing more than it is gaining.

Lost Love

Topic:The Alligator River Story

The Alligator River Story was very short, but interesting. I enjoyed the little story that we had to read, but I wish there was more to the story than that. I wish it would've went on and gave more detail of story. Abigail was in love tremendously with Gregory. She was in love so much that she did everything she could to get across the other side of the river to be with him. I think that it was weird how she did everything she could to be with him, but when Slug jumped him she laughed. There were several different characters in this story which include Abigail, Gregory, Sinbad, Ivan, and Slug.

I rate Gregory a two. I understand that he was upset with Abigail for sleeping with Sinbad, but he should’ve found out the reason why she slept with him. He should have not done what he did by casting her aside.

I rate Abigail a three for that, because she was so into the part where she had to figure out a way to get with the man she loved, but afterwards laugh. When Abigail asked Sinbad to take her across in the boat so she could be with him, the favor he asked her to do was not appropriate. Asking someone to do sexual intercourse with them for payback is not called for. I don’t understand why she let Sinbad degrade her into having sex with him anyway. I believe Abigail could have found another way around the river instead of sleeping with Sinbad.
A captain should not ask a female a question like that just for taking her across the river, because he probably was going to go that way anyway. I rate Sinbad a five, because of his inappropriate behavior. Sinbad was very desperate to have to get sexual intercourse in exchange for a boat ride.Abigail went to everyone she knew to be with her man. Her next choice was Ivan. He was a so called friend of hers. She discussed the situation with him about how she wanted to get with Gregory and she asked Sinbad to take her across in the boat since the bridge was washed out and his negative comment to her, but he didn’t want to get involved in the situation. I don’t understand why he wouldn’t try to help her and go ask Sinbad why he said the comment he did to her. I believe Ivan denied to help her for reason.

I rate Ivan as a 4, because a friend should help a friend in need. Another character was Slug. I rate him as a one. I’m not sure where he came in the story at; it didn’t state who he was or anything of that nature. I agree with him standing up for Abigail, but she really brought it among herself. It wasn’t a need to jump Gregory for that because it made no sense.

Society Today

Topic:Human Rights vs Majority Rule

The world is changing today and everyday. Human rights is the basic rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled, often held to include the right to life and liberty, freedom of thought and expression, and equality before the law. The majority rule is a doctrine by which a numerical majority of an organized group holds the power to make decisions binding on all in the group. Humans have their own right to do what they want to do. First, discrimination should not be anywhere in America. We were all born the same the only thing different is one skin is lighter than the other is. There are many different people in the world today. Some jobs discriminate tremendously about their race, disability, or etc. No one should be judge on either one of these subjects. No one can judge someone just because they are female or male. We are all equal. Some people think that if it is a man's job than a woman cannot do it. This is not true a woman can do just as much as a man can do. This is against the human rights.

Today we have gay marriages a lot. No one should judge someone just because they are gay. That is there decision and no one should say anything about it. If that is what they choose to do than let them. It is God's decision to judge them not ours. Many people believe in God, but they seem to judge people all the time. Again, if a gay person was trying to get a job and was denied because he or she is gay then it is not right. I know someone who was in that position and they didn't get a job. Even though it has been stated in the Constitution that we have equal protection, freedom to speech, freedom to press, etc.., but we have the majority rule that tries to tell us what to do, when to do it, and how we should run our lives.

Interracial dating is another one. Many people judge others just because the person they date is not the same color as they are. No one should look at someone just because who they are dating. One person is just the same as another one. The only thing different is the skin tone. Everything inside our body is the same. God made us to be the same, but it seems like no one can understand that.

Terroist in Action

Topic:hijack

If a terrorist came on a plane that I was controlling and they wanted convicted criminals, I would let the criminals be set free. I would try to make an agreement to the terrorist, but like most terrorist they probably will not listen to anything you got to say. For example, the attack on the twin towers was ridiculous for someone to do such a thing. For what reason was it done? I don’t believe anyone knows the true meaning on why it was it done to America. If I was in charged of the nation, I know the attack on the twin towers was upsetting to everyone in America, but I believe that we did not have to send our troops to Iraq and the different places just for the terrorist’s ignorant actions. Even though they wanted to be ignorant why does the US? I don’t understand that part. This war could’ve been exempted. Now the US is in a huge situation just because of this war. It is hard to escape from a war and many of our Americans are dying for no reason, because this could have been stopped.

If I was in charged I would not let the media talk about everything that is going on and what is planned to happen. Today I believe that the media talks too much. While the situation was going on about the 911 attack the media talked about everything that US wanted to be done and what was going to be done and the Iroquois knew, because it was broadcasted everywhere. So, I would not let the media know more than what I wanted it to know personally. I would not have sent anyone to fight in a war. If it is unnecessary to do such thing then why do it. Why couldn’t us Americans let this go and continue even though it was hard? Because Americans do not think about their actions before they do them and they were angry and upset and so all they could think about was war.

Today the 911 effect is remembered everyday. Anyone who watched the twin towers fall whether it was on television or right there in New York it was devastating. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing. It is very sad, but the government and the president acted in the wrong manner. No one knew this situation was about to happen and so when Bush knew and heard about it in his mind he didn’t know what he was going to do. Since the 911 attack on the towers the airline people and several different travel companies are more precautious and strict about the items and bags you bring. Why did this have to happen to make the airlines and other travel agencies to become strict and precautious? If I was in charged I would have to take all the precaution steps and I would have to be strict severely. I would’ve always been very cautious. Americans took the US for granted and no one should ever take it for granted. You never know when something else may come up like the 911 attack. More than likely this same thing will not happen again the way it did though.

My Point of View of Absolutist and Relativist

Topic: Right or Wrong?

Today everyone have their own opinions and morals. I believe that everyone should have their own side to pick from. I believe that I am an absolutist, because I have my own morals and my own beliefs on certain situations when some people may think that it is not right. Moral absolutism is a belief on their absolute standards that can be questioned and judged. Moral relativism is a philosophical view that what is right or wrong and good or bad is not absolute but variable and relative, depending on the person, circumstances, or social situation.
.
For example prejudice and racism is a good example of right and wrong situations. I believe that no one should be racist just based on someone color of their skin. I call myself an absolutist, because I believe that it don’t matter what color you that you can date whoever you care about and love besides what someone thinks about it. I know several people who do not believe on that. Today I see a lot of people that are prejudice against one another and I don’t understand why. God put us all here on earth to get along with each other and to interact with each other. No one should discriminate on one another just because of race, color, or for some outrageous reason. I don’t believe it is called for someone to judge someone based on their color. On the other hand we have some people that do it daily and they will never change, but they have their own morals and opinions.

Another good example is committing a crime. Someone commits a crime everyday. One crime that I see that is broken a lot is stealing. Yes, stealing is a crime. Why should someone steal something that they can or cannot afford? It is not worth to steal something, because in the long run you will be paying more for the item than what you would have paid for it if you just purchased the item. You may end up in jail just for stealing a little simple item when I believe that you could just ask someone to get the item for you so you won’t have to worry about getting caught stealing and more than likely they will purchase the item for you. You only have a 50/50 chance to start with so why risk you life of paying a large fine or even going to jail just for an item when you could just ask someone to purchase the item for you. I believe one crime is just as bad as another crime and the police should take action in any crime, because they are all crimes. For instance, if someone murders someone I believe they should be put in prison for life and never get out. On the other hand if someone murders someone in the case of self defense and if there is a clear evidence of it being self defense then they should not be punished for that. If it is done intentionally then they should be punished. But in most cases of stealing the purchaser has the chance to put the item back or for the company to call the police and if the purchaser does not put the item back then the police should take serious action and follow the procedures for being a thief.

A final example is about gay marriages. Today a lot of people agree with gay marriages and believe that is okay to do. I believe that two people of the same race should not be together. I believe God put two different races on earth so that a guy can be with a girl and not two of the same. It doesn’t make any sense to me for someone of the same race to be married to each other or to date each other in any way. That’s why I feel that I am an absolutism because I have my own opinions just like everyone else. I just do not agree with gay marriages at all.

My Perspectives on Interracial Dating

Topic:Perception

In our society today many people do not believe that we should date out of our race. Many people say they are not prejudice, but they think that you should stay with your same color. My parents are that way and they don't believe in that. I do not feel that way. I believe that God made us all the same we are just different colors on the outside but on the inside we are all the same. I have been dating someone out of my race for three years now and I just don't feel right when I go out in public because certain people treat you different when you they see who you are dating. I have gone through a lot for the person who I am with. No one should judge the person just by their color, but from what is on the inside of that person. I don't believe someone should have to hide the person they are with just because they are not the same color. If God didn't want people of different races to be together, he wouldn't put us all on earth together. That is what I believe.

Now, let me tell you a little about my background just because of the person who I date. Like I said, I have been with my boyfriend for three years now and every bit of that three years I have had to hide our relationship from my family, except my aunt. Still to this day my relationship with him is behind their eyes. I have been caught with him several times and I have gotten in a lot of trouble just for seeing him. I wish my parents wouldn't be the way they are. It makes no sense for someone to judge the person you love or try to disown you just because the person you love is not the same color. I am going to tell my parents very soon about the person who I am with, but I am so nervous because I want my family just as much as I want him. It is a hard decision to choose from. But my parents cannot run my life for me and they cannot pick the person who I love. I moved out of my house after graduation and when I started college I lived with my aunt who is married to a man of a different color and then I decided I wanted to get my own apartment so that my boyfriend can come to be with me everyday. We are staying together but everytime my parents come to see me I have to hide his belongings and he goes to my cousins house until they leave. It is very agitating to keep hiding our relationship because we love each other and we have to hide our relationship just because he is a different color. I hate having to be called names and being mistreated by the prejudice people that is in our society. I just believe everyone should be treated equally and that no one should judge a person by his or her appearance but from what is on the inside and never let someone run your life because if someone runs your life for you then you will never be happy yourself. It is your choice on who you love and who you chose to be with. Just always go with what is in your heart and not what no one says.

One day when I was with my boyfriend at his house, my grandmother came up and took pictures of my car outside of his apartment. She took these pictures to show my parents that I was somewhere elese besides where I was suppose to be. At the time I was staying at my grandmothers house and my parents were staying in Florida, so then my grandmother goes home and packs my things and up. After everything was packed up my cousin came and stayed with me at my mothers house instead of staying with my grandmother. Now, my grandmother wants me to stay with her every chance I get. She doesn't even look at that anymore. I am the person who tries to treat everyone equal.

Myself

My name is Samantha Brannen.
